I realised something last week that I wanted to share with you all.  I am actually a little afraid of blogging, the reasons why are below – in list form of course:

  1. I don’t have anything interesting to say
  2. I haven’t done anything worth writing about
  3. I don’t have time to blog

This realisation came to me on Monday when I was planning my workload for the week using my T card system organisation system – which is AMAZING by the way! Here is a picture of mine.

T card system

All of my clients have a coloured set of cards on which I write tasks and spread them out over the week. The grey cards are for my business, so social media scheduling, financial tasks all go on cards so I make sure I am working on my business as well – (surprisingly hard to do by the way).

Then I noticed this card looking very sorry for itself

Blog post

Looking a bit sad isn’t it?  Bit dog eared, well used etc. Unfortunately not because I am blogging all the time and I am good at reusing the cards – OH NO!  It is because I kept getting to the ‘Blog post’ task card and then saying to myself “not today, I will do it tomorrow……”.

So we now return to the list at the top:

  1. I don’t have anything interesting to say

Someone of my favourite blogs are written by very inspirational,  creative people who have lots of interesting things to say like Carla Louise  http://carlalouise.com/blog/

and Mimi’s  Little Sips of Tea. https://littlesipsoftea.wordpress.com/

I am fairly new to the blogging game, whereas these people have been doing it for a long time admittedly, but I seriously am not sure that I would be able to engage people into reading more than one blog post before getting bored and moving on.

  1. I haven’t done anything worth writing about

My friend Rachel blogs  about her experiences of living with MS in the amazingly titled ‘If Life Gives You Lemons… Make A Gin And Tonic’  https://rachelhogg.wordpress.com/

and one of my clients Rosie manages to strike the balance between saying grown up important stuff whilst making it fun http://onemanbandaccounting.co.uk/

First of all, I (luckily) don’t have a chronic illness and I am not confident that everyone shares my love of organisation and filing the hell out of everything.  Which is many ways is a good thing? Otherwise I would be out of a job right!

And finally……..

  1. I don’t have time to blog

The textbook excuse which is why my little grey task card gets moved from day to day and week to week on the T card system and never quite reaches the actually ‘doing’ part of my to do list.

So what is the answer?  Is it that I give up on blogging and just be content to read other people’s blogs and get on with running my own business and building up my client base to safe guard my future blah blah blah………

NO!  STOP IT WOMAN!

The answer is surely if I want to blog then I have to make time for it and put it to the top of the to do list.  So this is my new list:

  1. Blog at least once a month but don’t get cross with myself if I can’t manage that
  2. Be confident that what I am writing about is interesting and people want to read it
  3. Not be worried that every blog post isn’t the next War and Peace and/or the next Shakespeare play

That’s all for now folks, I feel loads better after writing that blog and I hope you will enjoy reading my creations in the future.

Happy creating!
